Hello, I'm Tracey Walker and I am a trichologist registered with The Institute of Trichologists (London).

Trichology is the science, which concerns all aspects of hair in both health and disease. Clinical trichology is the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases of the hair and scalp.
Hair is important to our image and self-esteem and anything, which affects this image negatively needs to be addressed.
At The Hair & Scalp Clinic, trichological preparations are combined with electrotherapy to treat many hair and scalp diseases e.g. alopecia areata, diffuse hair loss, trichotillomania, androgenetic alopecia (male & female pattern baldness) psoriasis, eczema, contact dermatitis etc.

Nutrition is also very important to the health of the hair and skin. What goes into our bodies influences the strength and weakness of our bodies systems.
It may be true that we are what we eat, but more importantly we are what we eat and assimilate! In other words it is important that the body absorbs maximum nutrition from the food we eat. It has been assessed that up to half the food we eat may be over-processed and nutrient deficient.

Other factors affecting our ability to absorb nutrients are age, stress and use of long-term medication.

Many patients that visit The Hair & Scalp Clinic benefit from a lifestyle analysis and advice on their dietary needs in addition to the orthodox consultation sheet. Some of the supplements I regularly recommend are:

  • Nutricalm - for the nervous system. If our bodies are under stress it causes them to become acidic, which in turn prevents us from absorbing minerals especially iron (which is essential for hair health).
